Services Maximizing Independent Living and Empowerment, also known as SMILE, is one of only five Centers for Independent Living in Arizona. 

Under Section 702 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended, a Center for Independent Living is a consumer-controlled, community-based, cross-disability, nonresidential private nonprofit agency for individuals with significant disabilities, regardless of age or income. Centers are designed and operated within their local communities by individuals with disabilities and provide a variety of independent living services. 

SMILE provides independent living core services to individuals with significant disabilities of all ages, income levels, and disability types, including children and youth with disabilities
